#66: Monody's Modernism (#10: Tanka's Enemy Part 2)

Now that Spirit has captured my name
Propelling me to higher heights
Their hymnals become greatly stained
Drowning out their sleepless nights

As crows ascend my body back
To dance beside the throne of chance
Remembrance of what actions lacked
Beseeches any grieved glance

Conversing in immortal talk
Amongst the best eternal minds
Affirms a carefree, idle thought
That Earth, indeed, was worth the time

#65: Netta-Britton's Midnight Tetractys

Lust
Untamed
Speaks no name
Yet is the blame
For her relationships degraded reign

Feng Wang

(To the beat of Michael Jackson's "Liberian Girl")

I want an exotic girl/ Like an Indian girl
Someone who lives on the other side of the world
Who's style is that of good news from a herald
And who's beauty can put monks faith in peril

Oh yeah, this girl must be more than a dime
When she talks, I'll lose all sense of time
Emanicipating my dreams, revealing my mind
To think of things larger than this rhyme

Like taking her places/entranced in her aura
Walking on the beaches of Bora-Bora
Doing stupid things like dancing the Hora
But the Balkans version not that of the Torah

Now, don't get me wrong, John Mayer I'm not
All religions welcome, nationalities besought
Discrimination, not, at all in my heart
With every woman, I'd give at least a thought

Except for those who's ignorance
Causes there mental to be silenced
Formulation of no one sentence
Provides bases for your riddance

I just want a girl who's a challenge, she
Would be just "Another Part of Me"
Spoken like Mike, when he rocked the curl

(Sings) "I want an-----Exotic----GIIIIIIIIRL!"

Constant visions of you----that I have
Illuminating from a------Malaysian bath
Emanating from one-----Aphrodite's craft
With a mind that makes Ms. Wheatley's path
Seem rudimentary, like a child's laugh

Your soul would be "deep like the rivers"
When Langston arose, he started to quiver
At the thought of blacks with no dinner
I starve for you...I start to shiver

Farfetched are my dreams, some say my plight
But I "Keep On, Keepin' On", MC Lyte
I keep on, trekkin' on, until there's no fight
And keep on, pressin' on with all my might ('cause)

(Sings) "I want an----exotic---GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRL!!!"

Ft. McDoze's Battle Ground

Life's sickly-seeded twin
has caused torment from within
convoluting paths
fueling wicked wraths
all because the mind convinced
the heart to sin
A sin that was birthed in that moment
and lasted for a season
but gave no legit reason
as to why it truly began...

This battle with its twin
has made me no good friend
so, look not to me for advice
with my life, I can't even win!
Cloud nine, I was on and in
immortalilty, my mind went to ascend
but those cantankerous shackles of common men
confirmed me being nothing..but...human

Her Harlem Throwback

I got my papers to-day yall!
I was official, I was done
No mo' learning in crowded classrooms,
Or thinkin idle thoughts in the sun

I was movin on to better things
Nicer places and cleaner people
Never again to worry 'bout you ignant folk
Killin', stealin' and actin plain frivol

Yeah, I'm off to a place
Where only the most talented be
Ya know, the ones that run this country
And give opportunities to you and me

Momma seemed happy for me
Cause she gets paid cheap, ya know
Daddy's kindah upset
And said he won't love me no mo'

He thinks I turned my back
On the folk that brought me here
But that ain't no fact
I'll always be somewhat near

I read the Post today
To see the headlines
"Another (censored) lynched
Due to an Increase in Hate Crimes"

I got some books to help me
Cause I was gettin scared
I thought those people were good
Until their necks began turning red

Mr. Woodson schooled me
To never believe what's written in print
And Mr. DuBois recruited me
To participate in the "Talented Tenth"
Mr. Hughes wants me to speak
On some type of long stream
While Mr. McKay prepared me
To fight against this evil regime

"They" want me to be quiet
And just gon' sit in the back
But Daddy raised me dif'rent
I don't do none of that

So, I'm sorry for what I said earlier
"They" confused my "wrong" and "right"
Brothers & sisters, I love you all
And I'm gotta help us all unite!

The Dual Reflection

Expressions in a mundane world
Comes as no surprise
Yet, he which cannot speaketh
Has already spake his demise
We dream of life as a mountain
That we all try to climb
But in reality, it's a mission
And we consistently run out of time
Diseases and deaths are plentiful
Like sweet maples within trees
(PAUSE) Please, "SELAH" that last point
Because in bed, you're next (PROCEED)
Don't limit yourself to boxes
Abrasions on the corners cut deep
Release restrictions and broaden your minds
Awaken from this tulmutuous sleep
Uplift thy neighbor; esteem thyself
For therein lies thine key
Unlock thy gates to paradise
You shall obtain it, first, mentally.
